“Your house is ready for you”

Today’s title is one of the best phrases I heard in 2006.  Keep in mind that I heard many good things in 2006, including, “I now pronounce you husband and wife.”  The one about the house came from Joe of Tabor Design Build and he told us this on Friday, December 29, 2006.  Rob and I had just returned from spending the Christmas holiday with my family in Florida and to say that we were very excited to hear this is quite an understatement.  We went to the house Saturday to check it out and figure out how we want to approach moving back in.

One of the last things they did was sand and refinish the existing hard wood floors.  The floors look great! See, even Rob is happy about them. There is dust everywhere. Yes, I knew it would happen but the reality of it is amazing.  Sure, there should be dust on anything exposed but there’s also dust in every drawer and on the shelves of every cabinet. Back to the floor, here’s the view of the living room from the other direction.
Here’s the kitchen.
The counter in the right hand side of the last picture still has to be replaced.  We’re waiting on Counter Intelligence to get the new piece cut to the right size.

Here are the guest rooms with doors.
Here’s the hall bathroom.
The bathroom upstairs has the shower heads added...
...but no shower door.  We expect that to be delivered next week.  Today, I picked up a rod and shower curtain to use in the meantime.  Its final home will be in the hall bathroom. The rest of the bathroom looks like what you’ve seen before.
So, since Saturday, we’ve been transitioning back.  We’ve been doing lots of vacuuming. Rob slept there Sunday night while I was at the Rescue Squad.  We both stayed on Monday.  Happy New Year!
Today, we went through the final things that need to be taken care of by the builder and they plan to come next week to finish up.  Of course, that is contingent on all of the materials being delivered as promised by the suppliers.  Hopefully, the next set of pictures will show that we’ve made some progress settling in and emptying the pod. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
